So, we’re getting excited about what’s going on with the new music etc. Even though we’re not on tour, we thought it was worth posting an update about things to come. Before I go there, a few things that we’ve been up to the last few weeks:
Other than going to the practice space for hours a day, we played a show with Rooney in Santa Barbara, CA a few weeks ago. It was a great time, and a lot of fun to see a band who’s music we respect so much. I recommend checking out their new album, Eureka. However, our main focus during our time on the west coast has been writing new songs. We’re excited that within the next few days we should know when we will be heading into the studio. Then it will be updates galore. Moving on…
Writing has been going very well. With the luxury of having our own 24 hours a day 7 days a week practice space (it’s new, see pictures below), we have been able to get a good idea of where the new songs are heading. We’ve never been more excited about a batch of songs, and can’t wait to get them recorded and ultimately play them live across the country. The last thing we want to do is rush putting out an album…we want every song and every lyric to be well thought out. Thankfully, we have been put in a position to do so, and are close to accomplishing what we came to LA to do. We have been recording demos on our own and are at the point where we will be sending them to producers, to find who will be the best fit for these songs (we have a good idea of where and who we want to record with). We should have details on all of this very soon.
I posted some pictures below of the new practice space, my snacks of choice for writing, the view from our manager’s apartment (where we currently reside), and a few more. Enjoy.
Thank you for your interest in what we are up to! We can’t wait to have these new songs finished for you all. We hope to see you soon…
I think it’s about time to update you on what’s going on in our camp. For the first time, we are excited to be able to focus on the music, with few distractions. The only thing that will get in the way will be ourselves, which people seem to let happen pretty often (not excluding myself). Thanks to our manager, Sara, and the assistance of many others, we will be living in L.A. writing new music for the next few months. We plan to have the songs done and recorded by summer’s end. We’re very excited about where the songs are going, and what they will be by the time they reach your ears.
We’re looking forward to keeping everyone updated with the writing process throughout the summer. We’re going to be updating our blogs weekly, and putting up pictures and video of the practice space and whatever else we’re up to. Definitely check back often. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for things we could do to stay in touch, let us know. Don’t be shy to shoot a message our way.
I speak for all of us when I say that it’s not easy being away from family and friends while living out here. It’d be hard to explain in a blog how things have worked out for this band up until this point, but sometimes things just seem to fall into place, as cliché as it may seem. The fact that we’re actually in California getting ready to record another album makes us that much more excited to make music for you all.
Here are just a few pictures from the practice space. Thank you so much for the support.
So most of us had these last tour, but we never really advertised them much, so now I’m going to.
We each have blogs/tumblrs for you to waste the day away on the internet reading/viewing, so much cooler than facespace and MyBook. I’ll list them for you now:
One of these days I’ll get around to putting a permanent section on this blog with these links, but this’ll do for now.
Shea’s is hilarious by the way, workin on getting Cody one, and we’ll try our best to get Bren to update(read start) his.
I know, I know. It’s literally been months since we wrote our last post on here, but it’s only because we’ve been busy writing, promoting, and generally “coming down” from that last tour we were on(see below). Anyways, some news:
We started working with a new manager, Sara Schlievert, who has already done so much! She’s super hard-working. We’re very excited that she’s on the team now!
We were recently released from our contract with Blue Duck Records and are now sort of “free-agents.”
There are a few other exciting things happening as well:
-Up for Voting on Alternative Addicition’s Top Unsigned Bands Chart: Vote for Us!
-Critic’s Choice feature on Ourstage Radio and 3 top 10 finishes on the site.
-”Life Is Strange” featured on Names You Should Know Vol. 2 sampler from The Album Project.
-Our song “Consider This” is featured in a video about professional surfer Erica Hosseini. The video was made by our good friend Noah Carlson (Voda Films), check out his stuff!
Our song starts about 2 min 20 sec into the video. Watch it below!
Thanks for stopping by! We’re writing new songs that we can’t wait to show you and have a good deal planned for this whole year, so keep in touch, write us on myspace/facebook/purevolume/etc.
In case you haven’t seen or heard, we’ll be heading out on tour with Showbread and Goodnight Caulfield from August 14th-October 14th. We’re super excited to meet and get on tour with all these guys. We’ll be updating with pictures and most likely vids, so be checking back for all that.
We’d love to hear if you’ll be coming to a show, so let us know here or myspace, etc!
Hope everyone is well. Take care.
d
PS. We are playing our last home show before leaving for tour tomorrow (Saturday 8/8) night at 7:00 pm, so we want to hang out with eeeeveryone before we head out. Come on out and have a good time with us!
I’m writing to tell you that we now have two new songs up on our pages. Head on over to MYSPACE to hear them now. We recorded these songs with our friend Andrew Wade who recorded our album “If You Know What I Mean” last summer. As usual, he did a great job. We’re happy to have some new songs for you guys, and hope you enjoy. More to come soon! Lyrics are in our newest blog on myspace, thanks for the support!
…that’s when we arrived back home in West Palm Beach from Ocala last night(this morning?). We had stayed late with Wade to finish the two songs we were recording, but they came out great! We couldn’t be more pumped about them. Wade’s just mixing and mastering them today and tomorrow probably, then we’ll have em to put up on purevolume or something.
We didn’t have internet for the last like 3 days of 4 we were there, so here’s two videos we put together so you have some idea of what we did there: Enjoy!
