An update to our friends and fans…

Hello friends,

First of all, Happy New Year to everyone! Hoping you are all well…

It’s been a while since we’ve posted an official update on the “state of the band”. Which is that we’re working hard on new music, and to be on the road playing. As some of you may know, we recently relocated to the west coast, and have been living in Los Angeles for the past few weeks. We plan on riding it out here for a while; writing, touring, and working on a new record. It’s been great being around all the people we have met out here, and has been an awesome couple weeks getting back into the swing of being a full time band. As some of you may also know, we have a new addition to the band. Our new friend Ben Lozano has been working with the band for a little while now, joined us on the tour out west, and will be riding it out with us as work on new tunes. It’s been awesome being back in action playing shows and writing all the time. Ben is awesome guy, and an amazing guitarist. We’re looking forward to you all meeting him and hearing him rip.

Speaking of opportunities for this to happen…we have a few upcoming shows in Southern California, etc. We’re excited to play some of these new songs on the road. Here are some upcoming tour dates (I included a few Facebook even links):

February 10 – Queen Bees – San Diego – 7pm – ALL AGES (with Asper Kourt)
February 12 – Amplyfi – Los Angeles – 7pm – ALL AGES (with Asper Kourt) FB:
March 8 – Hotel Cafe – Los Angeles – 11pm set time – 21+ FB:
March 13 – More Info Coming Soon – San Antonio, TX
March 14-17 – SXSW – Austin, TX (exact dates and set times TBA)
March 20 – The Blue Light Live – Lubbock, TX
March 22 – TBA – Albuquerque, NM (with Asper Kourt)

For the next few months, between road dates, we will be living in Hollywood while we write and rehearse at Swinghouse Studios just down the road. This is the studio where we recorded our most recent release, so we’re excited to be in that environment again.

We wil be in touch a lot from here on out. If you’d like to keep up with what we’re up to, we’d love that. Every message, tweet, you name it, is appreciated and encourages us to keep writing.

We love you all, thanks!

Ryan, Brendan, Dave, and Ben

Seasons Greetings

Hello,

How’s everyone doing? Summer has come to an end, and our (I will speak for the band here…) favorite season in New England, Fall, has begun. We’ve been residing here in the northeast for the last few months, working on songs and preparing ourselves for the road, the studio, and possibly a relocation in this country of ours. So, I figured I’d organize some thoughts and do a little update.

First of all, a quick and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send over their thoughts about the music as of late. Whether its been through Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, an email, whatever it may be…we appreciate it more than we can relay through a blog. Your positivity and encouragement about the music goes a long way. We are working to get more songs to you, and to get back on the road very soon. So again, thank you!

Speaking of Youtube, a special thanks to everyone who has checked out and/or subscribed to our channel. You’ve been very kind. If you haven’t had a chance, head over to our Youtube page for our videos. “Ballroom of Broken Hearts” is featured right now, and there are also a lot of live videos, and updates from the band.

Let’s see…Next, we’re playing this Friday, October 21st, at Maximum Capacity in Chicopee, MA for our friends’ CD release show.
We’re also playing November 17th at The Iron Horse in Northampton, MA, opening for Sam Roberts Band. Sam Roberts is a canadian artist who has Gold and Platinum records in Canada, including a #1 album, and has won six Juno awards (Canada’s equivalent to the Grammy’s). He’s on tour with Canadian indie-rock band, Zeus, who will also be playing. We’re looking forward to the show, and hope to see you there! You can check out the Faceook event for more details.

I think that’s pretty sufficient for an update right now. Thanks a lot for keeping up with us. When we’re not on the road we really miss hanging out with everyone. We have been demoing and working on a good batch of new songs, and are excited to get you updates on the music. More music and tour soon. Hope all is well!

Love,

Ryan and the guys

Update from the band

Hey everyone,

This is written with mixed feelings of disappointment and optimism. First of all, thank you to everyone who listens to the band. We love writing music, and will continue to for a long time. Anyone who has ever told one person about the band, come to a show, bought a song on iTunes, given a word of encouragement; you’re the reason we love to be a band.

So…recently, we learned that our good friend and guitarist, Shea, would not be joining us on the road any longer. It was disappointing to hear. However, we are wishing him the best in anything he pursues down the road. Speaking of the road, living there is by no means the easiest lifestyle. Tour can be tough…being away from friends, girlfriends, family, pets, beds, good food, showers, etc. Shea decided, after a few national tours and hundreds of shows with the band, that the recent Iron Horse in our home area, would be his last. It was a fitting last gig with a good friend, and it was a pleasure playing with him for the last few years.

Unfortunately, losing Shea so close to the tour left Brendan, Dave, and myself, with little time to train a new player. We wish we were able to play these shows on the east coast, and really look forward to coming back soon. As we mentioned, if you were planning on coming to any of these shows, send us an email at thegallerymusic@gmail.com and let us know and we will send you our new EP . Let us know the city the show was in and we will make a serious effort to come back soon.

Moving forward. We are, as always, excited about writing music and sharing it with everyone who loves music too. We have been working on new songs, and don’t have any intent to stop doing that because of a few waves. Change happens, and sometimes we can’t control it. But we can do our best to turn it into something good.

We’re excited about the future, and are looking forward to getting back on the road, and back in the studio. Until then, keep in touch…we love you guys.

Thanks for all of the support,

Ryan, Brendan, and Dave

Rolling Stone Cover Competition

I hope everyone’s been doing well, and has been toughing out the long winter with us. We’ve been waiting a while for this, and we are excited to announce that we were one of the 16 bands chosen to participate in Rolling Stone’s cover contest, which runs from February 15th, all the way through the summer.

The winner of this competition will be the first unsigned band EVER on the cover of Rolling Stone, and will get a record deal with Atlantic Records, among many other exciting opportunities for the band. We are very grateful for all of the opportunities we have had so far, and are very excited about this one. By no means are we a band so we can just become “famous” or be in the spotlight. This opportunity will put us in a great position to continue making music that we can only hope you all will love- which is why we continue on as a band.

PLEASE RATE THE GALLERY 5 Stars to vote at: http://www.rollingstone.com/choosethecover/artists/the-gallery and help us win this promotion! We are thankful for any support we can get. Feel free to share the link on your twitter, your facebook, and if your really motivated, tell your friends.

On the Rolling Stone website, you can stream two of our songs, read a short interview, and watch a video we posted for our new song “Ballroom of Broken Hearts”. We are streaming all of the songs from our new EP “Come Alive” on our myspace page.

Thank you all so much for your continued support. We hope that you enjoy the new EP.

Love, ryan brendan shea dave

July update, recording plans, and more…

Hey everyone, I hope you are all well.

In case I lose you before you make it through, pay us a visit for easy updates, pictures, and other good stuff:

The Gallery on Facebook (click)

So, we’re getting excited about what’s going on with the new music etc. Even though we’re not on tour, we thought it was worth posting an update about things to come. Before I go there, a few things that we’ve been up to the last few weeks:

Other than going to the practice space for hours a day, we played a show with Rooney in Santa Barbara, CA a few weeks ago. It was a great time, and a lot of fun to see a band who’s music we respect so much. I recommend checking out their new album, Eureka. However, our main focus during our time on the west coast has been writing new songs. We’re excited that within the next few days we should know when we will be heading into the studio. Then it will be updates galore. Moving on…

Writing has been going very well. With the luxury of having our own 24 hours a day 7 days a week practice space (it’s new, see pictures below), we have been able to get a good idea of where the new songs are heading. We’ve never been more excited about a batch of songs, and can’t wait to get them recorded and ultimately play them live across the country. The last thing we want to do is rush putting out an album…we want every song and every lyric to be well thought out. Thankfully, we have been put in a position to do so, and are close to accomplishing what we came to LA to do. We have been recording demos on our own and are at the point where we will be sending them to producers, to find who will be the best fit for these songs (we have a good idea of where and who we want to record with). We should have details on all of this very soon.

I posted some pictures below of the new practice space, my snacks of choice for writing, the view from our manager’s apartment (where we currently reside), and a few more. Enjoy.

Thank you for your interest in what we are up to! We can’t wait to have these new songs finished for you all. We hope to see you soon…

Much Love,

Ryan and the guys

Blog update from Ryan- Writing in L.A.

Hey guys,

I think it’s about time to update you on what’s going on in our camp. For the first time, we are excited to be able to focus on the music, with few distractions. The only thing that will get in the way will be ourselves, which people seem to let happen pretty often (not excluding myself). Thanks to our manager, Sara, and the assistance of many others, we will be living in L.A. writing new music for the next few months. We plan to have the songs done and recorded by summer’s end. We’re very excited about where the songs are going, and what they will be by the time they reach your ears.

Other than writing and recording we will be playing a few shows on the west coast. If you’re from California, we’re playing with Rooney and The Young Veins in Santa Barbara on June 18th. You can find tickets here.

We’re looking forward to keeping everyone updated with the writing process throughout the summer. We’re going to be updating our blogs weekly, and putting up pictures and video of the practice space and whatever else we’re up to. Definitely check back often. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for things we could do to stay in touch, let us know. Don’t be shy to shoot a message our way.

I speak for all of us when I say that it’s not easy being away from family and friends while living out here. It’d be hard to explain in a blog how things have worked out for this band up until this point, but sometimes things just seem to fall into place, as cliché as it may seem. The fact that we’re actually in California getting ready to record another album makes us that much more excited to make music for you all.

Here are just a few pictures from the practice space. Thank you so much for the support.
